We are the generation which is witnessing the tipping point in climate change that are having irreversible changes in environment and the impact it has on our lives. There is a sense of urgency on making decisions that will decide the course for ourselves and future generation.
Although we are aware of polluted environment in our cities, air and water, which are breeding grounds for long term illnesses, and it is being acted upon, we are less aware that if the food we eat, is grown in an polluted environment, the pollutants make way in to our bodies. The food we eat is exposed to air pollution, host of bacteria/pests, and water pollution, and rampant use of pesticides.
Traditional Agriculture is detrimental to environment, it needs more than 70% of available freshwater in the country, with very less yield. Low yield with limited land availability, and growing demand needs more produce, hence it eventually leads to deforestation. Our cities are running dry and are precious animals are dying, and forests which are green lungs of earth are vanishing. Farmogo uses IoT based precision farming with hydroponics, through which the yields are high and water utilization is less than 10% of traditional agriculture.
